The Household of God: Sent into God's World

We can gather together as sisters in the family of God because there have been countless persons throughout the centuries who responded to the call to carry the good tidings into the world. With the writer of Paslm 16:6 we can say: "truly (we) have a goodly heritage." We have many sisters around the world because of the faithful witness of "sent ones" whom we have supported with our prayers and our gifts.

The preparation of the studies in "Sent into God's World" has moved me to a new appreciation of the good news we have to share with a hurting, fallen world. I am struck by the obedience of Sarah and Mary. The people in the book of Acts responded to God's call with a sense of urgency. They saw it as a privilege to participate in the proclamation of the good news of peace and salvation.

Words cannot express my admiration for the vision and leadership of our mission boards and women's groups, and for the persons who responded to the call to extend God's kingdom throughout the world. How I long that the women who read these pages will receive new motivation to participate in the great work of missions by praying, giving, going or supporting those who can go. We are all sent into God's world!
