Encountering God During Advent
Today's youth seek intimacy, identity and a greater spiritual awareness of what lies beyond themselves. This curriculum invites youth to know God, themselves and others in deeper ways by exploring beneathe the surface of the stories surrounding Jesus' birth. What did it mean for Mary to say yes to the invitation to bear God's Son? Or for Joseph to take huge risks in staying loyal to Mary? How do we deal with the upside-down way in which God deals with people on the edge, like poor shepherds and foreign magicians?
This leader resource offers four sessions - plus a Christmas "extender session" - that will move youth from an active encounter with the familiar stories to a personal search for God's call in their own lives. Both in the sessions and in daily prayer exercises through the week, youth will be encouraged to develop their inner attentiveness to the amazing good news of God's coming into human history.
