2010 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: You are Witnesses

The theme for the 2010 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (Jan 18-25), prepared by Scottish Christians, is "You are Witnesses" (Luke 24). Ecumenical gatherings are invited to read aloud the whole of Luke 24. Thus preaching, thanksgiving, intercession and the celebration of being sent out in the name of the gospel can all be fully developed. Appreciation of the resurrection of Christ as the source of ecclesial communion; appreciation of being sent out in mission; and appreciation of the intrinsic link between mission and unity: together, these point us towards the continual need to renew our commitment to Christian unity.
