"This book on Prayer is both the most accessible and inaccessible book that I have come across on the topic of Prayer. Like his earlier books on discipline and celebration, this treatment of the topic of prayer is so broad that it can be as discouraging as it is inspiring. It is so accessible because Richard Foster sees all of life's activities as venues or methods of prayer. The first section on seeking transformation, invites even non-religious people to see the spiritual and prayerful nature of their lives.

The middle section gives an exceptionally clear and comprehensive view of how Prayer can lead to a life of intimacy with God, while the last section has an outward focus on different kinds of prayer ministry.

Foster's global approach to prayer makes later ministry focused chapters intimidating. His broad view and treatment of prayer challenges the reader into increasingly consuming and ever-deeper levels of surrender to God. Some chapters are even identified by Foster as being too heavy for the Christian novice (156).

While I would not recommend this book for quick reading and review, I would recommend it as an ongoing guide for a life of Prayer." --Elsie Rempel, MC Canada
