Worship Matters: Volume Two

This volume focuses on the work of United Methodist worship. A central theme of the book is that worship is something we do, joined in community with others who have recognized and responded to the presence of God. Worship is liturgy, that is, "the people's work." But liturgy is not limited to what we do in church. The work of worship continues beyond the doors of the church to faithful ministry in daily life.

The twenty-three articles plus the introduction provide practical yet theologically sound guidance to the people involved in planning, preparing, and leading worship.

This volume examines the diverse ministries involved in planning, leading, and supporting the work of worship; focuses on creating the proper spaces for worship; discusses "how-to" topics such as how to welcome and include children in worship; how to make music without a choir; and how to plan and lead worship with people who are deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing. This volume also deals with topics such as worship in multicultural congregations and worship in an oral context.
