Design of my Journey: An Autobiography

2004, 360 pp
Recounts the life story of Hans Kasdorf's birth in Slavgorod Siberia, the family's flight to Moscow in 1929, their fortune in being one of the families permitted to go to Germany and eventually to resettle in Brazil. Geographical and historical details far beyond the familial story place the story in its larger context.

The account of life in the Krauel region of Brazil provides fascinating details about the Mennonite pioneering years. Subsequently educated in Canada, United States and South Africa Kasdorf worked as a linguist, language professor and missiologist with Mennonite Brethren institutions and agencies. He spent most of the decade since his retirement working with Russian Aussiedler in Germany.
