Genealogical Registry and Database of Mennonite Ancestry
GRANDMA (The Genealogical Registry and Database of Mennonite Ancestry) is a project of the California Mennonite Historical Society's Genealogy Project Committee.
Distributed by download or through an online subscription, the current version of the database contains genealogical information about over 1.3 million individuals, most of whose ancestral lines can be traced to Mennonite communities in Poland and Russia. Not merely a list of individual people, entries in GRANDMA are linked by relationship (to the extent we can determine this). Various reports can be generated from the data, including ancestry, descendancy, and relationship calculations.
The downloadable database consists of genealogical data files in Brother's Keeper and Gedcom formats, and is designed to be used with existing commercial genealogy software programs. We strongly recommend Brother’s Keeper, which is available as shareware from here. The database may be used with other programs capable of importing Gedcom files, though many of these programs cannot import databases as large as GRANDMA. The online subscription does not require any additional software.
