GRANDMA 7 (The Genealogical Registry and Database of Mennonite Ancestry) is a project of the California Mennonite Historical Society's Genealogy Project Committee. Distributed on CD-ROM, this volume of the database contains genealogical information about over 1.2 million individuals, most of whose ancestral lines can be traced to Mennonite communities in Poland and Russia. Not merely a list of individual people, entries in GRANDMA are linked by relationship (to the extent we can determine this). Various reports can be generated from the data, including ancestry, descendancy, and relationship calculations.
The database on CD, which consists of genealogical data files in Brother's Keeper and gedcom formats, is designed to be used with existing commercial genealogy software programs. We strongly recommend Brother's Keeper, which is distributed as shareware on the CD-ROM. There is a US$45.00 fee if you decide to register a copy of Brother's Keeper, that is paid directly to Brother's Keeper. The database may be used with other programs capable of importing gedcom files, though many of these programs cannot import databases as large as GRANDMA. A zipped copy of the gedcom file is available on the CD.
There is no MAC computer version of GRANDMA, but options for MAC users are presented on the website at:
