Urban Eclipse: Rising Tides of Kekekoziibii (Shoal Lake #40 First Nation) Debut Screening: November - December 2018

2018, 2 pp

Crossroads: Brandon artist Janet Shaw-Russell drew on vellum and tissue-paper sewing patterns to commemorate her former home, departed loved ones and historic events. She created anatomical bone sketches and reshaped the remnants of her former profession as an interior designer to explore the emotional lives of seniors as their bodies age, their nests empty and their careers end.

The Winnipeg debut screening of Urban Eclipse: Rising Tides of Kekekoziibii (Shoal Lake #40 First Nation) will be on Friday, November 2, 7:30pm at the Laudamus Auditorium, 500 Shaftesbury Blvd. (north campus of Canadian Mennonite University). This 77 minute documentary, three years in the making, is the most detailed account of the Shoal Lake water story, as told by the people. The documentary is created by Jesse Green and Vanda Fleury-Green. A Q and A with the filmmakers will follow the showing. Also see more details in the previous newsletter
