With Roots in an Ancient Future: Emerging Ministry Perspectives

2018, 7:17 min
It is sometimes assumed that our shifting cultural context requires of the church radical innovation or even reinvention, yet the experience of Saint Benedict’s Table has been something more akin to jazz improvisation in which the foundational melody is always held in such a way as to allow fresh exploration. This talk will give a few quick snapshots of how that looks and why it has worked in our particular context.

Jamie Howison is a priest of the Anglican Church of Canada and the founding pastoral leader of saint benedict's table in Winnipeg. He is the author of "God’s Mind in that Music: Theological Explorations through the Music of John Coltrane" (Cascade, 2012), and the co-author with Steve Bell of "I Will Not Be Shaken: a songwriter’s journey through the Psalms" (Signpost, 2015).
