Treaty Talk: Sharing the River of Life

Treaty Talk: Sharing the River of Life is a teaching tool to better understand our collective responsibility to treaty. The purpose is to build understanding, allyship and bridges for better relationship and work together. This film, through the sharing of a traditional Cree understanding on natural law and treaty, will explore and model how indigenous nations and non-indigenous allies in Canada can come together to transform racism and discrimination at a local and systemic level and to build a future of mutual benefit.

This video combines 25 minutes of a tipi talk teaching and circle as well as 25 minutes of local story telling. The issues explored in this film are local to Treaty 6 Territory, specifically Saddle Lake Cree Nation and St. Paul, Alberta, but they are familiar experiences and lessons that many across Canada will resonate with. Whether you live in a numbered treaty territory or not, we invite you to reflect on the lessons of this film, an understanding of treaty, and the call to action.
