The calling of the church is to be an agent of God's reconciling work in the world. In missional church language our role is often described as that of being a "sign, instrument and foretaste" of Christ's kingdom. Racism is one of the marks of the world's brokenness. It is a sin that fractures the body of Christ and impedes our participation in God's mission.

The Mission Network Board of Directors, in designing the agency ends, identified racism as a global reality and a dimension of people's experience that need to encounter the liberating good news of the gospel. These guidelines will help us to imagine and develop those practices that will enable us to become who we were meant to be and together build a community that can be for the world a "sign, instrument and foretaste" of God's future.
