Let Your Face Shine!: Year B, Advent to Epiphany 2008/09

During the season of Advent, God’s Christian children approach Christmas with a unique focus. Like eager children waiting for the arrival of expected guests, we long to see God’s face during Advent. Each week of the Advent-Christmas season will offer a different angle from which to view the mystery of God as reflected in a mirror. We will worship and reflect on the Scriptures to seek the hidden, the comforting, the restoring, the indwelling, the embracing, and the welcoming face of God during this season. The plea to “Let Your Face Shine” has a double intention. Beyond pleading with God to see the light of God’s face, we also seek to reflect God’s light and let our faces shine.

The prayers and activities in this booklet are adapted from the worship resources in Leader magazine. Use the resource in whatever way best fits into your home’s routines and life stage realities. If your family has younger children, feel free to simplify, shorten, and paraphrase the prayers and pondering thoughts.
