2010 G8 Religious Leader's Summit: 2007, 2008 Statements and 2010 Initiative Resource

In 2010, Winnipeg will host the G8 Religious Leaders Summit. This event is growing in popularity and meaningfulness as leaders of many faiths seek to influence their various governments. For the past several years now, it has been held at or around the time of the G8 political summit, serving as a platform for the faithful believers to advocate for a better world, and influencing the world’s wealthiest countries to act on their past statements and commitments.

The Canadian Council of Churches is playing a significant role in assisting with the hosting of the 2010 event. To that end, they are lobbying their member denominations to build awareness and among and influence their respective congregations to take some form of positive action in holding accountable G8 leaders to the Millenium Development Goals and other commitments they have made.
