"The official emergency response never came. There was none. Our bed sheets were it: bed sheets and empathy."
In January, 2010, Willard Metzger, World Vision Canada's Director of Church Relations, arrived in Haiti, prepared to host a sponsoship visit by a group of Canadian Church leaders.
Shortly after they checked into their hotel, Haiti was struck by a 7.0 earthquake. Willard and the others found themselves out in the streets, with no medical expertise and no supplies, tending to the flood of wounded and dying.
These are Willard's reflections on a life-altering experience.
