Peace Sunday 2011 - Ambassadors for Christ (French, Spanish, and German included)

This year's theme: "Ambassadors for Christ: Our Ministry of Reconciliation." The purpose of these worship materials is to emphasize the need for Christians and for the church of Christ to be agents of reconciliation in a hurting and violent world. September 25 was chosen as the International Day of Peace by the Peace Council of Mennonite World Conference (MWC) to coincide with the Sunday closest to the United Nations’ International Day of Peace (September 21). This resource material is offered to churches who are part of MWC as a way to express our partnership and solidarity with Mennonites around the world, and to give witness to our common faith and commitment to the peace-making way of Jesus Christ.

You are encouraged to use these resources as suggested, or, if you wish, to use them the first Sunday in November when Mennonites in Canada and the United States set aside a “Peace Sunday.” The important thing is that you take the opportunity in your church community to affirm and to teach about this important Christian belief.
