Although he resists labels for himself, Noel Moules has nonetheless been described as a “Shalom Activist” – someone who actively and intentionally conspires to express the love and peace of Christ in all circumstances. Moules is the founder of Anvil Trust and its national learning program Workshop: Applied Christian Studies, which has been running since 1983.

Born in India in 1945, the eldest child of missionary parents, he grew up in the foothills of the Himalaya. He studied theology and education, as head of department he taught religious studies for a number of years before starting Workshop. Experienced in church leadership, he is a founder member of the Anabaptist Network in the U.K., and co-founder of Peace School, which explores shalom activism, and is developing the Peace Church concept to help people think differently and creatively about being church both locally and globally.
