The Prodigal Son Returns To Peckham: A Dialogue, Activity and Reflection on Luke 15:11-32

Book, 2013, 7 pp

Jesus’s stories were about the people he met and the situations he encountered: ‘There was a sower who went out to sow seed …’ ‘There was a woman who lost a coin …’ ‘There was a man who had two sons …’ These folk were standing around him as he spoke, or they knew someone like the person he was talking about. The Gospel is not some disconnected philosophical or moral message but is lived out in real life, among real people: the Prodigal Son is that guy down the pub you’ve heard about who spent all his father’s money and had to come back home with his tail between his legs.

Dave Broom's dialogues and reflections have a light-hearted feel while embodying the deeper message of the original Bible stories. Jesus knew how to keep his listeners’ attention. His stories must have been both gripping and entertaining to his audiences.
