Ambassadors of Reconciliation: 2013 Peace Sunday Packet

2013, 26 pp
Mennonite Central Committee encourages Canadian Anabaptist congregations to observe Peace Sunday on November 3 or 10, just prior to Remembrance Day (November 11). The purpose of this Peace Sunday Packet is to help plan a Peace Sunday worship service and other activities that remind us of our identity as peace churches and that offer a witness against war and violence. This year’s packet — Ambassadors of Reconciliation — is inspired by the text 2 Corinthians 5:17–20. God reconciles us to himself and also charges us with a ministry of reconciliation. God loves us and requires us to love others.

Mennonite Church Canada congregations and initiatives figure significantly in this year's packet. See, for example, references to:
  • the peace witness led by Arnold Neufeld-Fast and the Stouffville community in Ontario (page 13)
  • the work of Christina and Darnell Barkman in Philippines (page 14-15)
  • the work of Mennonite Church Alberta and its effort to help Mennonites and Muslims connect in Edmonton (page 19)
  • the Spruce River Folkfest organized by Grace MC in Prince Albert (20)
  • the involvement of the Lao Christian Fellowship re the cluster munition issue
  • the children's feature, written by Elsie Rempel
