“But if we hope for what we don't see, we wait for it with patience” (Romans 8:25). What is hope? Can we be hopeful in very uncertain times? What inspires hope in you? There are no easy answers to these questions. Telling people not to lose their hope can also be really trite and clichéd. Hope is difficult when families are caught in cycles of domestic violence. Hope seems impossible when you are just trying to feed your family every day, or trying to find shelter from bombs and gunfire. Participants at Mennonite Church Canada’s General Assembly in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from July 3-6, 2014, were asked what hope means to them. Their responses were rich and inspirational, but more importantly, offered wisdom in times of uncertainty.
