Worship and Plenary: Ordinary Time Forgiveness: Deep Faith 2016

2016, 1:43:09 min
Deep Faith Conference, Friday morning worship led by Jen Shenk, Katherine Goertzen, and Elsie Rempel. Rachel Miller Jacobs offers the plenary message on the theme, "Ordinary Time Forgiveness."

She suggests that a popular summary of Anabaptist faith states that “Jesus is the center of our faith, community is the center of our life, and reconciliation is the center of our work.” Though Anabaptist/Mennonites pay lip service to conflict as a normal part of life, and forgiveness as an automatic corollary of being Christian, we often experience difference and disagreement as a terrible departure from the way things ought to be and forgiveness as a grudging duty. What theological reframing and embodied practices might form us for competence in conflict and in forgiveness in family, congregational, and denominational life?

Plenary begins: 28:25
Plenary ends: 1:26:42
