The World is Our Parish: Emerging Ministry Perspectives

2018, 12:18 min
This talk looks at the role (or lack thereof) of the churches in new social and political movements such as Idle No More, Black Lives Matter, and March for our Lives. I wish to make a case that these movements of the Spirit confound the boundaries between church and world and that the church ignores these movements to its own peril.

Jane Barter is Professor of Religion and Culture at The University of Winnipeg. She is also a parish priest in the (Anglican) Diocese of Rupert’s Land. She has published several books and articles of Theology and is particularly interested in the church’s engagement with social and political change.
