In Living Our Prayer, Betty Enns describes her four-year "adventure into faith," serving with Mennonite Central Committee and African Inter-Mennonite Mission in Lesotho, Africa. The story offers spiritual reflections and insights, but the adventure also is packed with high-action drama ranging from break-ins, carjackings, and armed home invasion to the outbreak of full-scale war. The author recounts the hard realities of living in the midst of poverty; of learning another, very different language; and of coping both with a dangerous betrayal and her husband's stress related illness. She depicts the exuberant joy of African worship, portrays the deep bonds of friendships formed through life-on-the-line crises, and recalls the bleak destruction in Lesotho that led MCC & AIMM to the painful decision to wind down its mission and depart the country. "This story is not one of laughter," she writes, "although laughter was there. Rather, it is a story of joy and pain and success and failure. We are glad that we heard God's call to Lesotho and went out in obedience. And we are grateful to those who spoke challenge, love and truth into our lives along the way."

Proceeds from Living our Prayer will go toward supporting the people in Lesotho described in the book.
