Virtual Youth Ministry in Response to COVID-19: Webinar and Resources
by Eran Holt
Webinar outline:
- Connection is key. No connection means no need for content.
- Content that engages an online audience. Create online engagement vs. just moving your service online. Don’t apply live setting rules to an online setting.
- Empower Gen Z to lead in this moment. We’re playing on their turf now. Gen Z lives online 4-5 hours day on average. That number will go up during this timeframe. If your students own this moment they will influence and invite friends. “You can’t quarantine the gospel!” - Greg Stier Most students have been surviving in their faith on the meme level. Leverage this moment to challenge students to deepen and publish their faith.
- Be fun, encouraging and empathetic. Students are processing this on many levels.
- Don’t confuse mission with method. Experiment with new timeframes, new platforms, new ideas, new strategies, etc. All our norms have been shaken and disrupted.
- Prepare a long-term plan.
- Get ready to re-LAUNCH. Start planning for a HUGE one-night relaunch when the coast is clear.
