"This treatment of the Lord's Prayer is in a familiar, anecdotal style, but is still well researched and referenced. It is quite similar in style to Fairfield's the Grace Connection. Each part of the prayer is festooned with personal anecdotes and life lessons learned being that illustrate the wisdom and relevance of the Lord's Prayer for current Christian praxis. However, Boer's work is more systematic and goes through the prayer phrase by phrase. It reflects the life of a Mennonite pastor, and has a more mystical flavour, while Fairfield's reflected his practical business context. It is easy to see that this book began as an extended sermon series on the Lord's Prayer. While the focus is on the Lord's Prayer, it is set within a broader context of recommending a return to the regular practice of spiritual disciplines. Lord, teach us to pray includes study chapters which make it suitable for small group use. Personally, I found it to be inspirational, devotional reading that was grounded in a listening approach to God, but also full of suggestions for Christian action." --Elsie Rempel , MC Canada
