Deeper than African Soil

Book, 2023, 344 pp

An honest recollection of growing up as a Missionary Third Culture Kid.

The daughter of Canadian Mennonites, Faith Eidse was raised in villages from southern Manitoba, to the Unites States Midwest and southwestern Congo. Covering her experiences living through revolution in Congo, boarding school, and illness, this memoir about life as a "third culture kid" has been described in the Tallahassee Democrat as “honest,” “courageous,” and “a killer of crossing cultures and living a vivid African life.”

Winner of Florida State University's Kingsbury Award and the FSU English Department’s best thesis of the year.
