Already Happening: Reflections on Climate Jazz, Holy Participation, and the Essential Work of Collaboration

This article was commissioned as a reflection on the November 2024 event called Climate Jazz, with the intention of digging deeper into the idea of collaboration and why we sometimes struggle to be participants in the work that is "already happening." Marnie’s article pushes gently at our impulse to “begin from zero” when we see a problem that needs solving - inviting us rather to see “that the world also (holds) goodness and (to imagine ourselves) plugging into work that has already begun.”

Climate Jazz was a gathering of folks connected with Climate Action/Creation Care work in and for Anabaptist organizations across Canada and the United States. It was held in November 2024 in Kitchener, Ontario.
