Sintering Solidarities: An Ethic of Care without Exception

This lecture, by Dr. Carmen Lansdowne, was presented at a conference called “Palestine, Settler Colonialism and an Ecumenical Call to Action” held in Winnipeg, Canada, May 14-16, 2026. This conference brought together approximately 130 participants from across Canada, including scholars, students, clergy, Indigenous leaders, artists, activists, human rights advocates, and members of diverse faith communities.

Dr. Carmen Lansdowne is a scholar, ordained minister, and Assistant Professor of United Church of Canada Studies at Emmanuel College, Victoria University in the University of Toronto. A member of Heiltsuk First Nation, she served as the first Indigenous woman to be elected Moderator of the United Church. Her lecture was entitled, “Sintering Solidarities: An Ethic of Care without Exception.”
