"Building the City of God" tells the story of these returned exiles and thier leader Nehemiah-a servant of the Persian king who requested permission to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city at the heart of Jewish religion and identity. Author Susanne Coalson Donoghue connects the efforts of the Israelites to remain true to their religious faith and practices with the current climate in which many Chiristians find themselves. For both groups the question is how to remain in the world without becoming of it.

This study is the second in our series, "One Body, One Spirit." The first study ,"Walking in Love", explores unity in the midst of diversity within the early Christina community at Ephesus.
