Down To Earth: The Parables of Jesus

Five Radical Sermons of Jesus in Mathew "If you have ears, use them!" that was the gist of Jesus' frequent conclusion to the stories he told. His parables sought to nudge people into new ways of perceiving God's activity. As Down to Earth will show, the meaning in parables is often not as straightforward as we'd like. Sometimes we end up with different messages out of the same parable. How appropriate, then, that Jesus uses this teaching technique, God's kingdom is breaking into our lives in dynamic and unexpected ways--but we need eyes and ears that are flexible, creative, and responsive.
