Love and Anger: Songs of Lively Faith and Social Justice

Throughout civil war, apartheid and the often desperate politics of the twentieth century, struggling people have sung their hurt and their hope and sometimes found in the singing the ability to move forward. That every revolution needs its songs is rooted deeper than this century's history for it is found in the Bible when Hebrew slaves lamented their plight, and a young woman called Mary sang the manifesto of God's coming kingdom. This collection of songs is a resource to enable the lines of communication to remain ever open between the life of the world and the faith of God's people. "Love and Anger" draws on the Biblical songs of justice, world church songs of protest and praise, and songs of experience from late twentieth-century Britain.
