Discovering the Bible

This multiple award-winning series is a basic introduction to the Bible for those how have little or no background. It is also a stimulating refresher for those who have long loved the Bible but never explored the incredible story of where it actually came from.

Four sections:

• "Getting Acquainted" looks at how the Bible is a book like none other, its continuing influence, how it came to be written, what the Bible consists of.
• "The Old Testament" explores its amazing development, how it is organized, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and fascinating evidence of how the scribes accurately preserved the texts over centuries.
• "The New Testament" looks at its relationship with the Old Testament, why and how it came to be written, the writing methods of the period, and how the canon was formed.
• "Survival, Spread and Influence" shows the Bible's influence and survival, how the Bible was taught in the Middle Ages, and how it has transformed individual lives across the centuries.
