Rhythms of the Soul: The Psalms as Worship

If the book of Psalms is any indication, worshippers in ancient Israel not only praised God for mercy and goodness, but also vented their rage, their doubt, their resentments. Were they less holy or healthy than those of us who try to keep worship consistently upbeat? Most Christians freely use the psalms of praise and confession, but don't know what to do with the outburst of anguish and anger they also find in this ancient worship book. Rhythms of the Soul encourages us to use the Psalms to bring our whole selves to God, not only in our private prayers, but in our community worship and life together.
