This year's theme: Christian Unity. Matthew 18:20 is the central biblical text for this week of prayer materials. It draws attention to Jesus as the source of our unity; that the simplicity of two or three persons coming together in Christian mutual love is a vital means of building up relations between divided peoples and communities; that hope for the future and peace and reconciliation in the present involve dealing with painful memories and hurtful grievances of the past. It is the hope that Christians who use these resources come together in prayer, in mutual love, to seek to understand each other amid differences.

Traditionally, the week of prayer for Christian Unity is held from January 18-25. Finding ways to pray together during this January week means that we are in harmony with people around the world.

The materials include a preparation guide, Bible study approaches, activities for children and youth, hymn suggestions, eight days of biblical reflections, an order of worship.
