A New Day in Mission: Irene Weaver Reflects on Her Century of Ministry

2005, 23 pp
Irene Lehman Weaver has experienced virtually all of the phases of Mennonite mission history. She has served on four continents throughout her 95 years of life. During those years, she has touched the lives of many others, including those who also have devoted their lives to mission work. In this booklet, Irene tells her story through the words of one of those other missionaries whom she has inspired.

Weaver recalls her years growing up as the child of missionary parents in India, then describes how her views on mission changed during her own years of work there and, later, in Africa. Finally, from her present home in the United States, she continues to minister to those around her, following the simple principle that "the whole purpose of life is to love people into God's Kingdom." The book also examines 10 foundational principles of ministry based on Irene's experiences.
