Roots and Fruits of Passionate Faith

Can Mennonites be passionate about their faith? We are hearing the need to reclaim a passionate faith. What are the roots of Christian passion? How does a passionate faith bear fruit in a life of discipleship?

Can passion and gifts reinforce each other? Do we have room for the gifts which nurture a passionate faith? What might emerge if persons felt their gifts were welcome and needed for the church to be faithful to its call?

How can we talk about faith? If our faith is passionately rooted in Christ, do we have the habits of faith that keep us rooted? Do we have a language to express our faith at the family table and in the church lobby?

These are the presentations given at the Mennonite Church Manitoba Equipping Conference, September 30, 2006 at Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship in Winnipeg. "The God Experience" draws our attention to Jesus and his invitation to the church to abide in him. Our passion is rooted in the heart of God and grows through spiritual disciplines and corporate worship. Session Two, "Recovering the Vocabulary and Habits of Faith" will explore how we can talk meaningfully about faith in our homes and our churches.
