For Our Children: Our Sacred Beings: Understanding the Impact of Generational Trauma on our Aboriginal Youth

My approach to the subject of generational trauma grows out of my desire that the voice of our ancestors, our Elders, our people, and our youth, as survivors, be heard and that the audiences which listen will understand how this important dimension of Aboriginal history fits into the larger context of events that have played a role in the attempted ethnic and cultural genocide of the Natives of North America. For Aboriginal audiences, for our sacred youth who will read this text, I hope that this testimony, this Aboriginal perspective of what took place during colonization and its horrific outcomes will bring the kind of healing shock I experienced in learning about our history and that it will be a catalyst for healing - that the sleeping giant within you will arise...that you will find Original Instruction.
