Mennonites in Canada 1920-1940: A People's Struggle for Survival

Book, 1982, 640 pp
CommonWord is shocked and saddened by Frank Epp's ministerial sexual misconduct, which came to our attention on May 27, 2021. We unreservedly condemn his actions, and stand in solidarity with all victims of sexual violence.

We have determined to remove Epp's books from our shelves. We do so to signal our condemnation of his actions; to acknowledge the raw wounds that his choices open in the lives of victims of sexual violence; and our need for patient, ongoing reflection in life situations imbued with dissonant complexity. We view this choice as a necessary, provisional time of lament as we acknowledge this brokenness.

Covers theological difficulties within the Mennonite groups already settled in Canada, the emigration of some conservative groups to Latin America, the massive immigration of more Mennonites from Ukraine during the 1920s, and the Mennonite experience during the Depression, leading up to World War II.
