This full-length feature film was a network television blockbuster! It chronicles the encounter between Jesus and a sick girl named Tamar and Jairus, her father. More than that, it is a warm and intelligent presentation about the life of Jesus - emminently watchable. It features state-of-the-art 3-D model animation, and the voice talents of Ralph Fiennes, William Hurt, Julie Christie and Miranda Richardson.
"I strongly suggest it be something you could put in your church library. Some have referred to it as “the fifth gospel” for children. They use an interesting technique in mixing animation mediums. The 3D puppets are used in stop motion for the story, while 2D animation is used for Jesus telling stories or giving voice to inner thoughts/dreams/temptations of Christ. There is a scene near the beginning of the movie in 2D animation of this story (the story of the wise/ foolish men and their houses on rock/sand) told by Jesus. It’s maybe 2-3 minutes long and is wonderfully done. If you have the media resources and licensing, this is wonderful to show)" -- Heidi Epp, Peace Mennonite, Richmond, BC
