Though rich in culture and natural resources, Colombia is facing the worst humanitarian crisis in the Western hemisphere. A more than 40-year war claims some 3,000 lives a year and has forced more than 3,5 million people to flee their homes. The roles of the United States and Canada in this Andean country are complex, as are the roots of the conflicts. But you can help. Colombian Mennonites are calling on Christians to speak out.

"We know that one of the strongest tools that Christians have is prayer. But prayer must be accompanied by action. The people must lead their government to sow justice and harvest peace." - Richard Esquivia, Director of Sowing Peace

Colombia is home to the world's second largest community of internally displaced people, surpassed only by Sudan. The social conflict that has degenerated into armed conflict in Colombia has affected all of Colombia's people. Local churches are taking risks and responding to the humanitarian crisis.
