Connecting with God and each other takes intentional effort. To be fully present and available, to companion together, demonstrates care and compassion. What does it mean to be present with God? What does it mean to walk alongside and be present for another, unconditionally, on her journey? This study examines Scripture texts that illustrate the importance of practicing presence, or companioning, with each other.
Practicing Presence, commissioned by Mennonite Women Canada and Mennonite Women USA, is a women's Bible study, recommended for women's gatherings, Sunday school groups, retreats, or individual reading and inspiration.
Twelve sessions highlight how women can be present with each other. Session topics include the biblical creation story of God as a loving creator, loving God and others as ourselves, Jesus and Mary grieving when Lazarus died, and Ruth being present with Naomi, among others.
